Malin and Marie from Colors of Praise

Meet the Marketing Director - My name is Malin Mooney, and I am the CEO and Marketing Director of Colors of Praise Needlepoint. I have a bachelor’s degree in Family & Consumer Science: Dietetics, but my passion for sales, people, and the needlepoint industry led me to where I am today. I currently live in Nashville, TN with my handsome husband Will and our two wonderful dogs, Pip & Beefy.

William is a captain and Blackhawk helicopter pilot for the US Army. Working with Colors of Praise has afforded me the opportunity to have a career I love that is also flexible enough to travel to different duty stations as Will’s orders come in. I have been around needlepoint since Mom started COP back in 2008, but I didn’t start stitching myself until Will was deployed to Germany for a 9 month rotation. While he was away, I spent many nights watching British murder mystery shows and needlepointing. That was when I discovered the love and appreciation of the craft, as well as the kindness and support within this industry for one another.

I love what I do, and I am so thankful for those who have encouraged us over the years and supported our needlepoint collection. We have so much up our sleeves, this is just the beginning!

Meet the In-House Designer: I'm Marie Barber, the creative lead and designer of the Colors of Praise Needlepoint Collection.
Growing up in southern Sweden, I was introduced to the richness of wool tapestries displayed in numerous castles in this region of Sweden. I was fascinated with the bold, rich medieval themes and landscapes.
My love for colors and painting started early and played a major roll throughout my childhood. Throughout my travels in Europe as a child, I was drawn to many great art museums and exposés which seamed to be every where. Later, I attended the Art Institute of Atlanta focusing on fashion design illustration and visual communication. My needlepoint incorporates a royal tapestry flair into modern, Boho and Rococo fashion utilizing all the latest textile resources available world wide.
Exploring color and pattern combinations continues to be a passion of mine. I hope you enjoy our collection.

Maggie from Love mhb studio

Maggie Boroujerdi is the Founder and Creative Director of love mhb studio, a needlepoint design firm that loves bold graphics, simple lines, beautiful letterforms - and 13 mesh! A graphic designer by training, Maggie has a degree from Parsons School of Design (where she adjunct taught) and worked at both Martha Stewart and Condé Nast before leaving to start a family. As an avid cross-stitcher for over 30 years Maggie was looking for more modern designs when a simple internet search took her down a needlepoint rabbit hole. One project later and she was hooked. When it was time for a new project it occurred to her that she could in fact design something of her own. The result was her first 4" round ornament, Holly Jolly on 18 mesh (later taken to 13 mesh when she came to her senses!), and the start of a new design chapter in her life, love mhb studio.Maggie is now a die hard 13 mesh needlepoint fan, loves playing with decorative stitches, and is coming around to stitching in hand. When she's not designing/painting/stitching needlepoint, she's likely restocking the pantry from the latest teen raid, attempting to walk her smell-every-blade-of-grass Frenchie, or planning their next getaway with her husband. Maggie is inspired by beautiful typography, printmaking and travel.

Cathy from Alice Peterson

Alice Peterson Company was founded in 1974 and is now owned by Cathy Rapoza, a 35-year member of the needlepoint industry. Cathy proudly continues the legacy of her company by embracing the ever-evolving design trends within our industry, and continues to provide new and exciting products.

Our needlepoint line has many styles of products for every age and skill level. At Alice Peterson Company, we stand behind the quality of our products 100% – No questions asked.

Karen from Zecca Designs

I began designing needlepoint canvases after finding my way into the needle arts industry via my handmade polymer clay buttons.

I made buttons and lots of other objects for needle artists for years, while my children were small.

I made jewelry and greeting cards, tee shirts, hand-bound books, pots, and lots of other things to earn a living during my youth.

I studied printmaking and ceramics in art school, and was lucky enough to attend art school in Philadelphia, Boston, Oakland, and Rome.

I worked for a short time on Seventh Avenue for a sleazy fashion company, and then no one else. I saw a path.

Twenty years on the Zecca line is proudly introducing the work of my son Alex Goldman. I think our work is complementary. He will be more and more a part of the Zecca empire!

Elaine Aidonidis - Instructor

Elaine Aidonidis has always had a love for needle arts and was introduced to needlepoint about 20 years ago. Elaine has been working and teaching at needlepoint shops in Boston for the last 15 years and is currently at Stitch Boutique in Winchester, MA. She has held stitch & chat groups and specialty classes in several different shops in Boston, Cape Cod and Nantucket, as well NY, TNNA and Destination Dallas. Elaine has developed a passion for colors, fibers and stitch selections that make a canvas come to life.

Elaine attended the Stitch by Stitch 2023 Mohonk Retreat and is returning based on popular demand! She has also taught classes at Stitch by Stitch in Larchmont, NY.
